Dear members,
Welcome to the December news letter!
It has been a very enjoyable year for the club. We have had many successful outings, raised a considerable sum of money for local charities and kicked off the first of our club weekends away. We are looking forward to more of the same next year.
In addition the start of 2009 will see the launch of the clubs website and also a new look for the newsletter!!
Once again we hope you will all enjoy our newsletter. If you have any ideas for the newsletter or have any car stories or ad’s that you would like us to include please contact us on cvccc@gmail.com or any of the club contacts on the back page.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our members!!

Annual Autumn Run
We had a successful year despite the bad weather. Our Autumn Run was well supported with over 80 cars on the day. Our prayers were answered, the day was good and everyone enjoyed the run. The route was the Golden Vale Drive. A big thank you to St. Joseph’s Foundation for the use of the facilities and car park, to all who helped in the kitchen making tea, to all our loyal stewards, Gerry Hynes for planning all our routes, Davey for his help, the Old Walls in Liscarroll for an excellent meal and also the Irish Vintage Scene magazine and the Vale Star for advertising and coverage. The following got prizes on the day: Billy Ryan won the Memorial Cup; Cormac Daly with his Mk II Ford Granada Ghia won Best Classic; John Walsh with his VW Beetle won the Binchy Cup; Sean Ryan with his Ford Anglia Van won Best Overall for 2008; Noel Dollery with his Ford Anglia van won Best Commercial. Thanks to all who came long and short distances to support the run and make it a great day out.
Run to Sligo
On Friday 10th October a group from Charleville and District Vintage, Veteran and Classic Club travelled to Tuam. It was the start of a good weekend with good weather on Saturday and Sunday, scenic driving, craic agus ceol. After a good breakfast on Saturday we set off for a tour of Mayo. The first stop was Pontoon for a tea stop. After an hours stop it was back on the road again and we travelled on through the bogs of Mayo to Belmullet where we had a brief stop for a few photos. We then travelled through the Ceidi Fields and into Co. Sligo, arriving at the Ocean Sands hotel in Inniscrone. We were well taken care of there and the food was very good. John Spillane made a guest appearance but was a bit under the weather. Thanks to Mike Barry and local talent we had plenty of music and singing until the early morning. After a good breakfast on Sunday morning we were on the road again and our first stop was John Walsh’s home place in Largan where we met up with his two brothers and saw their collection of grey Fergie tractors. After a bit of a chat we were back on the road again and headed for Knock where we visited the shrine. We stopped for about an hour there and were back on the road at about 3pm. We headed for Claregalway where we had a bite of dinner and took some photos and then made our way home. A big thank you to Mike Donegan for organising the hotels at a good rate and John Walsh for leading us around that nice part of the country.
